boop! is operated by Mark Carlson. This policy covers the boop! iPhone app and its Convex backend.
We store an Apple account identifier from Sign in with Apple, the name you choose, an optional birthday, a generated or chosen handle, the friends you add (names and phone numbers you pick from your contacts or type in), the boops you send and receive, posts, voice recordings you publish and their on-device transcripts, voice-mask choice, replies, boosts, blocks, reports, support requests and notification tokens. We do not request your email from Apple. If you used the original phone-number version of Boop, your verified phone number and your own Boop history are moved to your new account when you first sign in. Convex may process ordinary service logs and network information to operate the service.
boop! only stores the people you choose to add. Your address book is never uploaded in bulk.
The app records edits within a writing session, including inserted and deleted text, positions, and elapsed times, and sends that history when you publish so the backend can verify the post was written live. Only the final post and aggregate counts are stored. Face ID or your passcode is checked by iOS; boop! never receives face images or biometric data. boop! locks again after a minute in the background, and Face ID is required again before each post.
Speech is transcribed on your iPhone. If you choose a voice mask, only the processed recording is uploaded. A mask cannot guarantee anonymity.
Boops are visible to their sender and recipient. Friends posts are visible to the people on your friends list. Everyone posts and topic boards are visible to all signed-in members; real names are shown only between friends, and everyone else sees your handle. Circle posts are visible to Circle members. Convex hosts data and audio in the United States. Content is not end-to-end encrypted. boop! does not sell personal data, show ads, or track you across other companies' apps.
Delete your account any time in Settings. Deletion immediately hides your account; a background job removes your profile, friends list, boops, posts, recordings, blocks, reports and support messages. Copies others have saved and provider backups may persist for a limited time.
